Southwest Ortho is proud to announce that we are partnered with Stimwave– the leading edge in chronic pain management technology. Like something out of a sci-fi movie, Stimwave in a minimally invasive procedure that uses technology to manage chronic pain through a wireless process. Stimwave currently has 2 pain management systems: Freedom SCS system and StimQ PNS.

SCS System

The SCS system works by placing a tiny spinal cord stimulator (SCS) into your spinal cord. The SCS system manages pain by intercepting pain signals that are being sent to your brain, and masks them with an electric signal. The sensation is described as a slight “tingling” or “buzzing”. The SCS system has received remarkable reviews for treating chronic pain in the lower back and leg pain.

StimQ PNS

The other Stimwave system manages pain by directly targeting peripheral nerves that are causing chronic pain, giving relief to any part of the body below the head and outside the spinal cord. The StimQ PNS (peripheral nerve stimulator) system is inserted with a needle, and works similar to the SCS system by blocking pain signals and using electricity to mask the pain.
